Gross Motor Skills Kids’ play couches encourage and provide opportunities for climbing, jumping, sliding, rolling, crawling, balancing, and core strength.
Imaginary Play & Creativity There’s always something to dream up with a play couch! One day it can be set up as a campsite, the next day it can be a car wash with our favorite couch swag panels. Trust us, your kids will have hours of fun!
Emotional Regulation A play couch can be used to create cozy corners. They can be a quiet, comfortable space to sit and rest or calm down.

We have the Figgy play couch and absolutely love it. It’s a main fixture in our playroom and I love that it’s made with safer, non-toxic materials.
There is so much pretend play that happens with it. We use our favorite couch swag panels to create a car wash and an ice cream shop. Other forts and obstacle courses are always being dreamed up, too.
One of the biggest differentiators for the Figgy play couch is the velcro connections on the bases. They help builds stay together instead of falling apart if someone brushes against it during pretend play.
My kids love the Figgy for gymnastics-like play. We make ramps and work on balance, tumbling, and walking up an incline.
It’s so fun for indoor climbing, jumping, and burning energy on cold or rainy days. While it’s definitely more of an investment, I know we will be using this play couch for years!
My code EATPLAYSAY saves 10% off any order.

The Nugget Play Couch is also referred to as the Original Play Couch because it was the first of its kind. Versions of this kids’ play couch have been around for 10+ years, and it remains a tried and true brand for families. In fact, we know multiple families who loved it so much, they bought another!
The base and triangle pillows are firm and the cushion piece is thinner and softer. You can create slides, forts, or just some cozy spaces to snuggle and read books together.
One thing to note is the thinner cushion piece is not as dense as the base. It is the most flimsy piece for building and is often used more as a landing or crash pad.

What to look for in a kids’ play couch
Size – what fits in your space?
Safety standards – check to see if the play couch is made with non-toxic foam and materials you feel comfortable with
Care & cleaning – many modular play couches have removable washable covers and waterproof liners (typically sold separately)
Firmness – consider the foam’s firmness and how it will hold up during building
Versatility – the number of pieces in a play couch can greatly affect its versatility. Usually the more pieces it has, the more play scenarios it brings.
These panels come in different themes and include a velcro strap to attach to most modular play couches. We personally own the car wash, the ice cream shop, the coffee shop and the fire station.
We love the car wash panel for gross motor play. The kids pretend to be cars and crawl through the dangling brushes to get clean. It’s a great indoor play option for cold or rainy days, or to get energy out before bedtime!

Most parenting resources come from a single expert's perspective, but development doesn't really work that way.
You can't fully understand feeding without input from both a dietitian and a feeding specialist. You can't properly address milestones without OT, PT, and SLP perspectives working together. That's why every Eat Play Say resource is created collaboratively by our entire team — giving you the most comprehensive guidance possible, all in one place.
