Organization Favorites

Clutter is my biggest trigger (especially at the end of the day…)

Luckily, I have some great organizational pieces around the house and when I take just a few minutes at night to reset USE them, I wake up feeling better. I’m not a big decor person and I really try to use storage as double duty for home decor! All of these pieces do just that. MULTI-FUNCTIONAL IS KEY!

Here are some of my favorite ways to organize toys and books- from the kids’ rooms, to the closets, to the living room and more:

  1. This rotating bookshelf is my favorite from an aesthetic point of view AND from a functionality point of view. It glides easily, is short and the perfect toddler/preschooler height, and it holds a ton of books.

  2. These clear bookshelves are a dupe for the $200 ones I have in my daughter’s nursery (they were gifted). Those are super nice shelves BUT, you can get clear acrylic shelves for much cheaper and the reviews on these are stellar.

  3. This toy organizer is AMAZING. I have it in my daughter’s closet and it’s a great size. It holds a lot of toys and you can take the bins out to play or leave them in. I rearrange the bins when I do toy rotation and I love how I can customize how it looks. I also put it together 8 months pregnant no problem, so huge win.

  4. These long picture shelves I actually use for books! I made a book wall in my son’s room and he loves it. I display all his favorite books and he points and asks what he wants. These shelves are really narrow, so they don’t encourage climbing, and they are the perfect size to display books! I made his whole wall for under $100 (see below).

  5. The IKEA Trofast organizer is awesome. I have it in my son’s room and it stores SO MUCH! We also just put this exact system in our playroom, and it stores so much and keeps things organized. It’s also nice to look at, and can fit many different size bins, so as your toy needs change (when they get bigger so do their toys UGH), you can rearrange as you need to. If you want to read more about Paul’s room, you can here! I have a whole blog on it.

  6. Flexible rope storage bins are great for larger toys and books too! I keep these in a corner, in a closet, or next to or behind furniture. They are fun and functional!

  7. This wicker basket is my favorite! I have 12 of them. I love how they look and that they are nice and large for toys! We have them under our window seats in the living room, and also in our mudroom area. If you have a square organizer, these can fit in the 13 inch ones! They elevate the space more than a cloth or collapsable storage bin.

  8. Wire storage bins are great for books! We store larger books in these under the sofa table that’s behind our couch. You can stand up books that are tall and fit so many!

  9. This is the wooden rotating bookshelf that I absolutely LOVE! This bad boy comes unfinished, so you can paint it if you want or leave it as is (we have it natural). You can build all 4 tiers or just leave it smaller at 2-3 tiers. It is SUPER heavy- I can’t even budge it. I keep in a supervised area since it cannot be anchored to a wall.
