If you’re expecting a bundle of joy, these are the best baby cribs on the market.
We know (most!) babies sleep a lot. So it’s important to find the best crib for your style, home, and baby’s needs. You may be sharing a room with your baby and need a portable mini crib. You may have a nursery prepared and be looking for the best non-toxic crib. Maybe you travel a lot and your baby will sleep in a travel crib for the majority of the time.
No matter where your little one sleeps, or what your style and budget is, we researched the best cribs in multiple categories. All the details are listed below.
The Babyletto Origami Mini Crib is the best crib for small spaces. This mini crib is designed for urban living or to keep at a grandparent’s house, too. Save just over a foot of space when compared to a standard crib size.
We consider this the best mini crib because of its portable design. Made with castor wheels to move around any space, you can fold it up for storing, too. It can be used for newborns to 18 months of age (or sometimes older). It depends when your little one starts to stand and pull up!
It’s Greenguard Gold Certified and made with solid pine wood. A sturdy, well-made crib that can easily be used again if you grow your family in the future.
Materials:Sustainably sourced New Zealand pine wood
I’ve used a lot of travel cribs and the Guava Lotus Travel Crib is the best travel crib out there. Let me tell you why.
First, it’s one of the only travel cribs that’s Greenguard Gold Certified. This means it was tested for harmful chemicals and has lower VOC output. I feel good about letting my babies sleep in this travel crib.
It’s so lightweight and easily folds into its own travel backpack that’s under 15 lbs. I love that the mattress for this crib sits on the floor. There’s no wobbling around when baby is trying to get comfortable. They’re nice and secure on the floor.
The biggest differentiator is the side zipper. The side zipper opens up making it easy to nurse babies to sleep. You can also lay on the mattress beside your baby until they fall asleep and then zip closed. Many parents say it helps transition from cosleeping.
Materials:Aluminum frame, mattress made with low-VOC polyurethane foam
I love the babyletto brand because everything is so well-made. You get high-quality, safe, non-toxic cribs you can trust. We personally own a babyletto crib and loved it (when we had a crib-sleeper!).
This is the best convertible crib because of its 8-in-1 design. It starts as a bassinet, can transition to a midi crib, then a standard size crib. Then, you have options. Convert it to a toddler bed, a daybed, or a junior bed for your child up to age 5 (or older, depending on their size).
While it’s an investment, the price of the Yuzu crib includes all the hardware and materials needed for any configuration. You don’t need to buy the extra pieces for $100+ to use it as a toddler bed down the line. It’s built to last.
Babyletto cribs are always Greenguard Gold Certified, so you know they’ve passed rigorous safety tests. We use the Babyletto Pure Core Crib Mattress that’s also Greenguard Gold Certified.
Materials: Sustainably sourced New Zealand pine wood
The IKEA Sniglar is the best non-toxic baby crib because it’s made with solid, unfinished beech wood. Because the wood is unfinished, there are no VOCs or added chemicals.
It has a simple, neutral design that can go with nearly any home’s aesthetic. The price point is very budget-friendly at just under $130. Another nice feature is that one side of the crib can be taken off and it converts to a toddler bed. The conversion kit is included in the affordable price!
One drawback that some reviewers note relates to the safety warnings on the crib. While many cribs have stickers with warnings, IKEA’s baby crib has the warning stamped directly onto the wood with black ink. The photos on IKEA’s website don’t accurately represent this.
Materials: solid beech wood
Convertible: Yes, can transition to toddler bed
Greenguard Gold Certified: Not technically, but the crib is non-toxic and made from unfinished wood without finishing varnishes
For one of the best cribs on a budget, the Dream on Me Synergy crib fits the bill. Literally. This crib comes in multiple finishes. Depending on the crib’s finish, prices range from $100-$150.
It’s a budget-friendly crib with a sleek and minimalist style. I love that while it’s an affordable crib, it’s also a safe crib for baby. The Synergy crib is JPMA Certified and Greenguard Gold Certified. It’s third party tested for lead and other harmful chemicals.
Made from solid pinewood, the Synergy crib can grow with your child. It can convert to a toddler bed, daybed, or full-size bed, though the pieces are sold separately.
This crib has an easy style that goes with any aesthetic. It’s lightweight, sturdy, and a safe place for your baby to sleep!
This Naturepedic crib mattress is our favorite because it’s made with organic materials and is third party tested for safety. This crib mattress is Greenguard Gold certified, GOTS certified, and passes Made Safe standards. It’s a crib mattress you can feel good about your child sleeping on.
The crib mattress itself is great. We love the waterproof surface (made from cotton and sugar cane!). It makes wiping up messes and accidents so easy. The mattress has 2 stages meaning you can use one side for infants (firm) and one side for toddlers (medium firm).
The Lullaby Earth crib mattress is a great budget-friendly option. It’s $150-179 depending on if it’s on sale.
We love this option because it’s still more affordable, and it’s also Greenguard Gold and Made Safe certified. This crib mattress also has a waterproof covering that’s made safe and makes any messes easy to clean! It’s a 2-stage mattress that can be used from an infant into toddlerhood.

Most parenting resources come from a single expert's perspective, but development doesn't really work that way.
You can't fully understand feeding without input from both a dietitian and a feeding specialist. You can't properly address milestones without OT, PT, and SLP perspectives working together. That's why every Eat Play Say resource is created collaboratively by our entire team — giving you the most comprehensive guidance possible, all in one place.
