Looking for some baby and toddler snacks you can pack for on the go? We’ve got you covered.
As a mom, I feel like I’m always out and about with my kids. Running to gymnastics class, driving to run errands, and popping to different appointments. Sometimes we spend a lot of our time away from the house!
I’m always stuffing my bag with snacks to make sure nobody goes hungry while out and about. Because what’s worse than a tired and hangry toddler?
These are my favorite travel-friendly baby and toddler snacks with minimal ingredients and no refined sugar. From baby puffs to snack bars, dried fruit, and more – these are snacks you can feel good about.
Top Baby Snacks
Before serving snacks, make sure your baby is showing signs of readiness to start solids. For most babies, this is around 6 months of age.
And while we refer to these as baby snacks, toddlers will love them, too! You may even find yourself snacking on lots of this stuff. It’s just that good.
Age recommendation: 9 months + Number of ingredients: 5 or less Allergen info: gluten, dairy, and nut free
I love Amara smoothie melts because they only have four simple ingredients. They’re gluten free and dairy free snacks that babies (and toddlers) will love!
They melt in your little one’s mouth, so they’re perfect for new chewers. Their small size is great for babies working on their pincer grasp, too. The mango and carrot flavor is one of our favorites here. You might even eat the whole bag when your littles aren’t looking.
Age recommendation: 6 months + Number of ingredients: 13 or less depending on flavor (including herbs and spices) Allergen info: gluten free
Baby puffs are another simple snack for babies. They’re a great size for little fingers and easily dissolvable.
I like Serenity’s baby puffs because they’re more savory rather than sweet, and they are made without many major allergens. They’re a gluten and rice-free snack made with organic legumes and olive oil.
Your baby will get a little crunch before the puff dissolves. And they’ll be exposed to different flavor profiles like pumpkin, tomato and herb, and cauliflower cheddar.
Offer these nutty puffs as a yummy snack around 6 months of age and continue offering regularly! The brand makes a mixed nut puff that’s also delicious.
Age recommendation: 6 months + Number of ingredients: 9 or less Allergen info: gluten and dairy free
When in doubt (or in a hurry!) grab a pouch. I like Once Upon a Farm pouches because they’re made with real, clean ingredients.
These dairy free snacks are made with coconut milk, fruits, vegetables, and seeds. There are lots of different flavor profiles for your little one to explore.
Another thing I love about baby pouches is they hydrate your little one during snack time, too. Pro tip: use one of these pouch holders so your baby doesn’t squeeze everything out on themselves!
Top Toddler Snacks
These snacks require more experienced chewing and are best for toddlers aged 12 months and older.
Age recommendation: 12 months + Number of ingredients: 7 or less Allergen info: gluten free, dairy free, and many are nut free
It’s no secret we love our Skout Bars. They’re one of our favorite healthy snacks. Made with seven ingredients or less, they’re a good balance of protein, healthy fat, and carbs.
These organic snack bars are soft, chewy, and delicious. They’re sweetened with dates and contain no added sugar. Such a win in my book!
Our favorite flavors are peanut butter and jelly, apple pie, and raspberry rush.
Age recommendation: 18 months + Number of ingredients: 3 or less Allergen info: free from top 12 allergens
These healthy toddler snacks come in snack-size bags making them easy to pack. They’re sweet, crunchy, and simple.
Made with only three ingredients or less, That’s It Fruit Crunchables are free from the top 12 allergens. This makes them a great snack to pack for school.
Age recommendation: 18 months + Number of ingredients: 1 Allergen info: gluten, dairy, and nut-free
Thin rice cakes like these are great for toddlers! They are a great crunchy snack that dissolves easily. I love that Lundberg uses regeneratively grown, organic brown rice. This version is salt-free, but there are other flavors available.
Age recommendation: 18 months + (if cut length-wise), 2 years + if eating whole – always supervise! Number of ingredients: 1 (plus spices) Allergen info: gluten, dairy, nut-free
If you’re looking for toddler snacks that are higher in protein, these meat sticks fit the bill. One mini grass-fed beef stick amounts to 4+ grams of protein.
Since meat sticks tend to be tough and harder to chew, I recommend them for older toddlers. Remove the “skin” (collagen casing) and the texture can be made softer for toddlers.
Age recommendation: 2 years + Number of ingredients: 6 Allergen info: gluten and dairy free
Crackers make a delicious crunchy snack. We like these grain free crackers because they’re made with clean and simple ingredients.
Pack them with your child’s favorite dip, or slice some cheese to pair with it. This makes for a good balance of carbs, fat, and protein!

Serving snacks in a different way can help liven up snack time. If you have a picky eater, serving foods differently and without pressure can help your child be more willing to try a food, or explore it.
Additionally, if you’re looking for ways to take snacks on the go, try a bento box, toddler snack container, or even a snack spinner. Below are some of our favorite ways to serve snacks (and meals!) while out and about.
We love these plastic-free bento boxes for toddlers. The food compartments are a great size for little ones. We pack snacks and lunches in these boxes weekly!

Most parenting resources come from a single expert's perspective, but development doesn't really work that way.
You can't fully understand feeding without input from both a dietitian and a feeding specialist. You can't properly address milestones without OT, PT, and SLP perspectives working together. That's why every Eat Play Say resource is created collaboratively by our entire team — giving you the most comprehensive guidance possible, all in one place.
